Nice Day, Great Quarter for Nvidia (NVDA, USAT)

We’re still in the thick of the earnings season so I’ll keep this short and sweet. Successful tech stocks are kicking butt, and you should stick with the program of buying and holding the best ones.

Case in point: Nvidia (NVDA), which is up 14% today after smashing its first-quarter results out of the ballpark. Revenue and earnings topped estimates as did the second-quarter profit revenue guidance. Sales are now expected to be up 36% year-over-year as the chip designer’s graphics processing units continue to benefit from strong demand from data center operators and it continues to dominate the gaming industry. With the 52-week high now in play I’m raising the buy limit to $135. For more on this company, please see our recent recommendation

Way down the tech pecking order, upstart USA Technologies (USAT) continues to cash in on the growing popularity of cashless vending machines. Revenue was up 30% year-over-year, management expects continued growth to be profitable and the stock is flirting with $5 as a result. Continue accumulating USAT below $5.40.

Igor, although My Account at Investing Daily has my new and correct email address (ehgetchell@gmail.com) I keep getting some of your emails sent to my old email address (egetchell@estesvalley.net). Can you please correct that problem.

Thanks

Hi, I’m writing regarding the USAT stock. I don’t understand how this stock was studies/reseached by your group because the quarter results were good for the company but the stock price decreased after the results. What signs show that this stock will move because I don’t see enough trading of the stock? I have read the document about the stock from early this year and this stock hasn’t moved as expected. I’m concirned because I have joined your system just because of this stock pick and so far I haven’t seen anything positive yet so hopefully things get better in the near future.

Thanks,
Ermis Orellana

It’s a volatile small-cap stock and you won’t be able to invest in it if you worry much at all about its big short-term fluctuations. There’s value to the business as well as promising growth opportunities, but you need to be able to ignore short-term moves, and of course the best way to do that is not to invest any more than you are prepared to lose. And the portfolio has plenty of other promising recommendations that are less volatile. So welcome aboard and let me know if you have any other questions, please.

Will you raise the buy limit on nvda above $135?
Thank you

Not near term; I think it’s tough to add to a position after a ramp like this, so I’m comfortable waiting to see if a better opportunity might emerge down the road. This is still a core long-term recommendation, of course.
