These dynamic portfolios allow for a large number of data columns to be displayed in a small area. This is achieved by locking the Security column while allowing the data fields to scroll left and right. To scroll either use the scroll bars on the bottom and right-hand side of each table or if you are on a newer operating system or touch-device, slide your finger on the main body of the table to scroll.
You can easily sort columns within a table by first clicking the column header. The entire will darken to show that it is currently sorted – by default the stock name will be sorted alphabetically unless otherwise noted. Numeric columns are sorted high to low or low to high and descriptive columns are sorted alphabetically A to Z or Z to A.
To filter securities, click the box in the header and type the name of the security you are looking for. As you type, the rows displayed will reflect only those containing the word you have entered. For instance, if you typed in ‘Par’ you would see all of the securities with ‘Partners’ in the name. This is particularly useful in larger data tables when looking for a specific security.
Click on the button labeled ‘Show/Hide Columns’ in the upper right. To show or hide columns, click the checkbox next to the name. You’ll see the columns appear and disappear live as you change the options in this menu. If there are a lot of data columns, then the column you select may appear off-screen, to the right. You can view this by scrolling to the right (see the “Scrolling” section). This menu will disappear when you click anywhere else on the screen.
Edit My Stocks
You can turn on/off stocks that you wish to see in your ‘My Portfolio’ section. This can be done from any portfolio by clicking ‘Edit My Stocks’ above the table. When you click this button it will turn green and say ‘Save Changes’ which means you’re now in edit mode. A new column of checkboxes will appear next to each stock’s ticker symbol. Select the stocks you wish to follow or uncheck those you no longer wish to see and then click the button again that now says ‘Save Changes’ and the table returns to normal. You can view your personalized portfolio by selecting it from the ‘Portfolios’ option in the website navigation menu.
Some portfolios are further organized into categories. If so, a ‘Category’ button will appear above the table. Click this button to bring up a menu of categories which you can select to see a filtered view. Sometimes these categories will have specific columns or data pertinent only to that sector. You can always return to the entire portfolio by hitting back on your browser or selecting ‘All Categories’ from the bottom of this menu.
