Sell Retail Names: BJs (NYSE: BJ), Steven Madden (NSDQ: SHOO),Tapestry (NYSE: TPR), Target (NYSE: TGT), Urban (NSDQ: URBN)

Sell Retail Stocks:

Sell BJ’s Wholesale Club (NYSE: BJ), Steven Madden (NSDQ: SHOO), Tapestry (NYSE: TPR), Target (NYSE: TGT), Urban Outfitters (NSDQ: URBN)

We have had a wide range of gains and losses on these trades. The common theme is those recommended most recently (Urban recommended last November) have fared the worst. Each one of these companies has reported better than expected earnings yet the stocks haven’t responded well.

I am concerned that the temporary shutdown and the polar vortex shutting down shopping in wide swaths of the country will burden sales. While these drags are temporary, investors seem to have little patience for missed numbers.

During the suggested holding period BJs rose 6%, Steven Madden rose 22%, Tapestry fell 14%, Target fell 6% and Urban fell 23%

BJ sold for 26.55 at Fidelity for 10.7% profit.
Not in other trades.

SHOO sold @ $32.86 a nice 31% gain.
BJ sold @ $26.52 about a 5% gain
