The Fast Track portfolio had two big winners today. Firstly, the shares of Movado (MOV) soared today (up almost 24 percent) after the company reported its quarterly results. Sales were up, margins were improving, and EPS doubled. Read More

Today, many stocks in our Growth portfolio were up significantly. Among the big winners were our two Internet plays, eBay (EBAY) and Yahoo! (YHOO), with EBAY being the biggest winner of the two, up more than 12 percent. What caused both stocks to rise was the news of a strategic partnership between the two companies. Read More

Advanced Micro Devises (AMD), one of the short positions in the Fast Track, was up more than 10 percent today on the news that Dell Computer would begin using AMD’s Opteron chips on its high-end servers. Read More

Shares of defense intelligence company CACI are up strongly today on word of possible merger negotiations with British defense contractor BAE SYSTEMS. Neither CACI nor BAE will confirm or deny the negotiations, which in our book means something is going on. Read More

Stronger commodities pressured the markets, especially the NASDAQ, today. One of the Growth portfolio members, Cerner, seemed to be a part of the sell-off. From what we could see, the selling was mostly technical. Cerner, a market leader in a healthcare-related software business, remains a buy. Read More

The shares of Growth Portfolio member Teva Pharmaceutical (TEVA) were down more than 10 percent today after reporting lower than expected quarterly numbers. The miss was due primarily to lighter revenues – and that, together with conservative guidance, brought the stock down. Read More
